Nestled in the idyllic countryside of Suffolk, the beautiful Ickworth Hotel is now seeking a motivated and talented Junior Sous Chef to join our brilliant team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a luxury hotel known for its exceptional service and welcoming culture.
Role Overview:
As a Junior Sous Chef at Ickworth Hotel, you will be a key player in our culinary team, contributing to the creation of exceptional dishes that reflect our commitment to quality. This role requires a creative and dedicated individual with a passion for delivering an unforgettable dining experience. This a permanent role, at 48 hours per week (including weekends), with an annual salary of £34k, plus generous service charge and a brilliant benefit package.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in Food Preparation: Support the Head and Senior Sous Chef in preparing dishes across various sections of the kitchen.
• Quality Control: Ensure food quality, presentation, and taste are consistently high.
• Manage a Section: Oversee a designated section during service, ensuring smooth operation and timely delivery.
• Support Team Members: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior chefs, helping them improve skills and efficiency.
• Inventory and Ordering: Assist with stock control, including checking deliveries, managing inventory, and placing orders as needed.
• Hygiene and Safety Compliance: Maintain high standards of cleanliness, ensuring all food safety and hygiene regulations are followed.
• Assist in Menu Development: Contribute ideas for menu updates or specials
• Report to Senior Sous Chef: Work closely with the Senior Sous Chef, handling delegated tasks and taking responsibility for the kitchen in their absence.
To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who has:
• Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role in a high-quality restaurant or hotel setting.
• Culinary degree or equivalent qualification.
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for cooking and a creative flair.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
